To Kick or not to Kick

Why are there no good placekicker in the college football? For the University of Colorado this question is asked every time there is a missed kick. In the past ten tries for, nine have missed the going inside the cross bars. This is with two different kickers. A simiular thing happened for Texas Tech where they actual found a booter from the stands. But the Red Raiders are #2 in the BCS standing and aren't really needing to use a field goal to win the game.
